Our Physio Services Covered by ACC
We provide a wide range of ACC physio treatments tailored to your exact needs. Whether you’re recovering from a sprain, strain, or injury, our services include hands-on therapy, exercise programmes, and additional care like acupuncture. While standalone Pilates or massage isn’t covered by ACC, we incorporate these into your treatment plan where needed.
Understanding ACC Physio Claims
At its core, ACC physio claims cover the cost of treating injuries caused by:
Accidents and Intentional Injuries (eg: a sports injury or assault)
Work-related gradual processes (eg: tendonitis from constant heavy lifting)
Treatment injury (eg: a sprain caused by a medical mishap)
This is a great way for our patients to focus on recovery without the added stress of financial burden. However, for your peace of mind, we recommend checking your eligibility through ACC’s official site, before formally lodging a claim with your physio or GP.
The ACC Claim Process
Once you’re confident in your eligibility, filing the claim is very straightforward.
- A treatment provider will help you fill out an ACC 45 Injury Claim Form.
- After receiving the form, ACC has 21 days to make a decision regarding your entitlement. Note: this can be delayed to two months if you have a complicated claim.
- Once approved, you’ll receive a ‘claim number’ either via text or email. You can then provide this number to our staff before making an appointment.
- ACC will then automatically pay part (often most) of the appointment costs and you'll only need to pay the remainder.
And for those worried about timeframes, there is no expiry date on claims under the AHS contract.
Understanding ACC Costs and Charges
ACC covers most of the cost of physiotherapy, but there’s usually a small co-payment. At Cairnhill, we keep our ACC physio charges transparent, so you know exactly what to expect.
